How it works

Where you'll work

There's no fixed calendar: every contract is different. It can be a single date or a season of 2, 3, 4 months or more.

Seasonal

Circuses, cruise ships, variété and hotels

Contracts of 2, 3, 4 months or more depending on the venue. On cruise ships you live on board; touring circuses move town every few days or every week.

One-off dates

Events and festivals

Weddings, corporate galas, festivals, fairs and private parties. One or several days you can fit between seasons.

Christmas and New Year

Christmas circuses, company dinners and New Year parties. The busiest booking period.

What you should know

Shows
Depends on the contract: in a season usually one or two shows a day with a day off; at an event, one show or several sets.
Accommodation
For seasons many venues provide accommodation (caravan, room or flat). For one-off dates, travel and hotel are agreed.
Pay
In euros, per show, weekly or monthly depending on the contract. Always in writing.
Beyond your act
You may be asked to join the finale, the opening or other tasks. Agree it before signing.
Paperwork
For Europe without an EU passport, or for the United States, you need a work permit or visa, usually processed with the contract, well in advance. In Latin America it depends on each country.
Languages
You don't have to speak the local language, but English helps a lot.
